Message from Vickie... (and please see News Items, below:)
Life is a journey and is what you make of it. There are twists and turns and forks in the road along the way. Which ones you take and what you do with those things create your path.
One of my philosophies in life is that no matter what experience you have or what you may know, there's always something to learn and a way to improve.
So it is with me, and dog training. Perfecting methods with the best interests of the dogs at heart has always been my focus, and striving for better communication is on top of that priority.
While continuing to achieve ways to efficiently and fairly use the e-collar, and teaching others how to do this, this evolution has become important to me. Yes, the e-collar is a tool that for certain things brings training into the 21st century.
Having trained many dogs successfully without an e-collar helped me to address and incorporate basic training fundamentals and use of dog psychology no matter what training "tools" were used.
Without a doubt, training has the potential to exact a toll on any dog. What can be done to create a better learning environment in which dogs thrive and flourish?
I've been searching for the major piece to this puzzle, and feel that I'm entering what is by far the most exciting chapter in my dog-training career.
You've heard me preach about using dog psychology and focusing on dogs to make your training more rewarding and successful.
Well - My life has intersected with someone who succeeds in bringing this to another level; without choke chains, check cords or extraneous noise.
In coming to know Randy Conner, it's been my privilege to learn his method of training and communicating with horses and how he's applied these methods to be just as useful and successful in rapport with dogs.
This new way of thinking focuses and works from the basic principle of simplistic approach that both dog and trainer easily understand.
Because of some of the new techniques and mindsets I've acquired, I'm again filled with the same zest for this life that became my career years ago, and am excited to get up each morning and train dogs to work and hunt with them.
Dynamics of Hound Training, Volume I, was written late in 2002, and it is filled with lots of solid information and helpful tips on puppies and on training fundamentals that carry into today.
It is now 2011 and there are changes, improvements, and refinements that introduce new and fresh ways of thinking and training outside the box. These ideals and methods will be brought to you in the near future.
At this time I'd like to also extend thanks to Kadi Conner for her talented photography, which will be revealed in upcoming projects as well as in new photos on this website. Thank you, Kadi!
I'm thrilled beyond words, and am looking forward to sharing these things with you.
Happy training and hunting!
